The Congo Basin 2025 Assessment Report Presented at COP30

The Science Panel for the Congo Basin (SPCB), convened by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, officially presented its first-ever Congo Basin 2025 Assessment Report at COP30 in Belém. Titled From Past to Future: Resilience and Sustainable Development, the report brings together the work of more than 175 scientists from the Congo Basin and international partners, offering the most comprehensive scientific assessment of the region to date. It highlights the Congo Basin’s essential role in climate regulation, biodiversity protection, and sustainable development, while calling for stronger political commitment, increased investment, and science-based solutions to secure the future of one of the world’s most important ecosystems.
